Little Hickory Island is located just north of Barefoot Beach along Hickory Boulevard and follows it up to the Big Hickory Pass and Broadway channel and onto Estero Boulevard. At the north end of Hickory Boulevard is the Little Hickory Island Beach Park. The park is open 7 AM to dusk seven days a week and offers public restrooms, showers, picnic shelters, tables and a beautiful view of the Gulf of Mexico. Parking is two dollars per hour and the Lee County parking stickers are accepted at this location. This is a great location for fishing right from the shore and is free to residents although a saltwater fishing license is required for out of city residents.
This family-friendly Park is a great place to head to on the weekends, evenings for a picnic, or to schedule a party or family reunion. “The beach here was lovely – not too many people around on the evening we drove to see the sunset. Some people even came here by boat and clambered ashore to set up their chairs for the lovely view of the sunset.”
“This is a great place to find shells. We walk to Little Hickory Pass and find lots of good shells. The beach is kind of narrow so if there are a lot of people at the beach you can be pretty close together. If you like a longer walk you can walk to Doc’s Beach House for a drink and food.”
